This year's premium is a nice, custom stainless steel water bottle.

Black Hawk Ridge is public land, not a park. Hunting is allowed. Oct 30th is not gun deer season but bow hunting and small game are in season.

Race start is a civilized 10 A.M.

Car pool as best you can, parking is limited.

Water and Gatorade on course, yummy hot lunch with soup, bread, cheese, cookies and more afterward. Vegetarian  and omnivore soups.

Many door prizes provided by our generous sponsors.

Bring a lawn chair for post race socializing.

Awards: Overall male/female winners in each event.  10 year age groups beginning at <20  for the 8K and <30 for the 16K (to 70+). Awards for top 3 in each group.

Proceeds benefit the Friends of Blue Mound State Park and the Lower Wisconsin Riverway Fund. The Riverway Fund supports the the DNR wildlife habitat restoration and management activities along the Lower Wisconsin River. The FBMSP support many park projects every year and this year are working on plans for an all season trailhead shelter.

TRAIL DESCRIPTION

Both races will begin together. They begin with a scenic prairie loop to the north. Then runners will divide and the 8K course runs South along the ridge top with dips down a few side valleys, taking you through restored prairie, hardwood forest, and pine plantation with some spectacular views of the Wisconsin River valley and beyond.  The 16K heads to the  bottom of the ridge to tour the Wisconsin Heights battlegrounds.  You'll climb back up to the top of the ridge, then head out on the 8K course for the last 6K of your event.

For the 16K, we will have a cutoff time of 1 hour, 30 minutes to complete the first 10K, so that all runners and volunteers can be off the course in time for soup.
